

This track offers camp counselors – both day and residential – the skills and knowledge necessary to lead a variety of nature activities. From recycled seed paper making to fire-building, your staff will come back equipped to lead children and staff in safe and fun nature activities! Participants will learn about plants and wildlife, experience sensory nighttime activities, and may choose to go on an overnight camp-out. For staff who responsible for spirituality / tefillah, some courses in the Congregation & Day School track may also be relevant.

~ Animal forms and animal tracking
~ Shabbat celebrations and tefillah in nature
~ Packing out a camping trip
~ Overnight camp-out experience
~ Making pizza box solar ovens
~ Recycled seed paper making
~ Cordage and plant fibers crafts
~ Fire-building and coal burned kiddish cups
~ Herbalism and wild edible plants
~ Lost-proofing – skills to NOT get lost in the woods (and how to find a child if she does)
~ Coyote mentoring and flow learning (pedagogy)
